Identifying that you need professional help to treat your mental health, is the first step you will take on your CBT programme.
My role as your CBT therapist is to reassure you that you are making the right decision and to guide you through your personal journey to regaining control of your life again.
Appointments in person or via the internet are confidential and last 50 minutes. Appointments are during the day commencing at 10.00am and the last appointment is 16.00. Appointments are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Appointments take place in my consulting room in Langford, near Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. There is easy access from the A1 and easy parking on site. There is one small step up to access the room. It is wheelchair accessible.
I will send you a short (optional) questionnaire to complete about you and your condition. Many of my patients find this to be a useful exercise to reflect on their problem or issue that they want to discuss with me. and helps them to talk more freely in our sessions.
The first session will cover important items relating to confidentiality and risk. I will probably ask more questions in order to get a better understanding of your current problem. You will have the opportunity to talk about what you would like to change using CBT and to experience what it might feel like to work with a therapist.
At the end of the first session, you can decide if it feels right to continue. We'll agree the initial number of sessions that will benefit you and confirm the dates and times for your next session.
We do not have to discuss the specifics of your mental health problem at this stage, although it can be helpful to give me a general indication so we can decide if I am the right person to help you.
